China has unveiled a groundbreaking initiative aimed at promoting stable and smooth global supply chains. The announcement was made on Tuesday during the opening ceremony of the second China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) in Beijing.
The Beijing Initiative for International Cooperation on Industrial and Supply Chains targets five key areas: promoting open cooperation, advancing digital connectivity, boosting green and low-carbon development, enhancing supply chain services, and leveraging the unique role of the business community.
“We advocate for practicing true multilateralism, enhancing trade and investment liberalization, opposing protectionism, and boosting international industrial collaboration,” the initiative states. It emphasizes the importance of integrating industries and deepening the connection between supply and demand to maintain stable and unimpeded supply chains.
Highlighting the significance of technological advancements, the initiative calls for better integration of the real economy with the digital economy. It encourages the adoption of digital technologies to unlock the potential of the digital economy and cross-border e-commerce, and actively supports the industrial application of artificial intelligence.
The initiative also urges governments to accelerate the development of international logistics systems. This includes enhancing cooperation in port and transportation logistics, expanding multimodal transport networks, and promoting the digitalization and green transformation of logistics to build intelligent logistics networks.
The global business community is encouraged to use platforms like CISCE to deepen practical cooperation and build mutual trust among nations.
Running from Tuesday to Saturday in Beijing, the second CISCE is the world’s first national-level exhibition focused on supply chains. Under the theme “Connecting the World for a Shared Future,” the expo offers a comprehensive platform for business matchmaking and investment opportunities. It showcases the interconnected nature of supply chains, providing insights into key processes from upstream to downstream across diverse industries.
