Trump Names Keith Kellogg As Special Envoy for Ukraine Russia

Trump Appoints Retired General Keith Kellogg as Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has announced the appointment of retired Army Lieutenant General Keith Kellogg as the special envoy tasked with resolving the ongoing crisis between Ukraine and Russia.

“I am very pleased to nominate General Keith Kellogg to serve as Assistant to the President and Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia,” Trump shared on his social media platform, Truth Social. “Keith has led a distinguished military and business career, including serving in highly sensitive national security roles in my first administration.”

Kellogg, who briefly served as acting National Security Advisor in 2017, has extensive experience within Trump’s previous administration. He later served as the executive secretary and chief of staff of the National Security Council and as national security advisor to then-Vice President Mike Pence.

Reports indicate that Kellogg, alongside former National Security Council chief of staff Fred Fleitz, has drafted a plan aimed at ending the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The strategy involves urging both Kyiv and Moscow to engage in peace negotiations. Under the proposed plan, U.S. military support to Ukraine would be contingent upon Kyiv agreeing to enter talks with Moscow.

Simultaneously, the United States would caution Russia that a refusal to negotiate would result in increased U.S. support for Ukraine. The plan also suggests implementing a ceasefire that freezes the current battle lines to facilitate peace discussions. For now, Ukraine’s potential membership in NATO would not be part of the negotiations.

Throughout the presidential election, Trump emphasized his commitment to swiftly ending the conflict in Eastern Europe. He has previously stated that he could broker peace between Ukraine and Russia in a single day if he returns to the White House.
