China Urges Philippines to Halt ‘Provocations’ in South China Sea

On Thursday, the China Coast Guard (CCG) accused the Philippines of ‘provocative behavior’ in the South China Sea, calling on Manila to cease all actions that infringe on Chinese territorial sovereignty.

According to CCG spokesperson Liu Dejun, the Philippines deployed multiple vessels on Wednesday into areas that China claims as its territorial waters, including around Huangyan Dao and Xianbin Jiao, part of the Nansha Qundao (Spratly Islands).

“These actions severely violated China’s territorial sovereignty, went against the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea, and undermined regional peace and stability,” Liu said.

The CCG has urged the Philippines to immediately stop all forms of infringement and inflammatory actions.
