Black Friday isn’t just an American phenomenon anymore. Chinese shoppers are diving into the annual shopping spree, thanks to the rise of cross-border e-commerce platforms bridging the gap between East and West.
Online spending during Black Friday has surged, highlighting the growing appetite for e-commerce deals worldwide. In the United States, online sales reached record highs, reflecting a significant shift in shopping habits.
This global shopping craze has fueled the expansion of Chinese cross-border e-commerce giants like Shein, Temu, and TikTok Shop. According to recent reports, these platforms have seen remarkable growth in sales compared to the previous year, connecting consumers across the globe with quality, affordable products made in China.
“We’ve prepared a stock of over 300,000 items for the Black Friday season,” said Wu Tingxuan, marketing director of a sports goods company in Yiwu, known as the world’s supermarket. “We hope this major promotion will boost our revenue by 20 to 30 percent year on year.”
The success of these platforms is backed by an efficient ecosystem, encompassing manufacturing hubs, streamlined customs processes, and expanding logistics networks. With around 120,000 cross-border e-commerce export enterprises, China is at the forefront of this retail revolution.
In the first three quarters of this year, China’s total cross-border e-commerce imports and exports grew by 11.5 percent year on year in value, showcasing the robust health of this sector.
As borders blur in the digital age, shoppers from all corners of the world are joining in on the Black Friday excitement, making it a truly global event.
