Beijing, China — China’s XZY-1 verification rocket successfully completed a 20-second static firing test on December 5 at the Haiyang Oriental Aerospace Port in Shandong Province, according to its developer, Space Epoch.
The XZY-1 rocket, developed by Beijing Jianyuan Technology Co., Ltd., also known as Space Epoch, is China’s first medium-lift launch vehicle featuring a stainless steel body powered by liquid oxygen-methane engines. Uniquely designed for recovery after ocean splashdown, the rocket represents a significant advancement in reusable space technology.
During the test, the rocket’s 70-tonne-class liquid oxygen-methane engine ignited flawlessly, operating at full power as scheduled. This successful firing confirms the operational reliability of the entire rocket system and validates the performance of Space Epoch’s self-developed test stand, which boasts an elevated steel structure and a water-cooled flow guide.
Space Epoch’s accomplishment marks a pivotal step in China’s aerospace endeavors, highlighting the nation’s growing capabilities in rocket technology and reusable launch systems.
