Chinese President Xi Jinping met with the fresh faces of Macao’s government on Friday, showing confidence in the youthful and energetic team. The new officials from the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) gathered as Xi emphasized their mission to serve both the country and Macao.
“Remember your oath and fulfill your mission,” Xi urged the officials. He called on them to safeguard national sovereignty, security, and development interests, while promoting economic diversification and creating a favorable business environment.
Xi highlighted the importance of unity and cooperation within the government team. “Enhance coordination across different domains and departments to improve governance efficiency,” he advised.
The President also stressed integrity and honesty, reminding the officials to always consider the well-being of Macao residents and to use their power wisely. “Be upright officials who bring benefits to the people,” he said.
Senior officials including Cai Qi and Xia Baolong attended the meeting, along with Macao SAR Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai.
