China and South Korea Strengthen Ties After High-Level Phone Call

China and South Korea have pledged to deepen their cooperation following a phone conversation between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his South Korean counterpart Cho Tae-yul on Tuesday. The two leaders discussed boosting economic ties, maintaining regional stability, and enhancing mutual trust.

Despite global challenges like trade protectionism and unilateralism, Wang Yi emphasized that trade between China and South Korea continues to expand. He invited South Korean companies to invest more in China, highlighting the solid foundation and vast potential for economic collaboration between the two nations.

“China and South Korea are friendly neighbors and important partners,” Wang said. He called for increased dialogue and cooperation at all levels to promote the healthy development of their strategic cooperative partnership.

Cho Tae-yul echoed these sentiments, expressing South Korea’s commitment to advancing the partnership. He stressed the importance of strategic communication, high-level exchanges, and initiatives to strengthen connections between their peoples.

Both ministers agreed that cooperation among China, Japan, and South Korea is essential for regional peace, stability, and prosperity. They pledged to work together to enhance trilateral relations and collaborate under multilateral frameworks like the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation.

On the topic of the Korean Peninsula, Wang Yi reiterated China’s stance on resolving issues through dialogue and consultation. He affirmed China’s intention to continue playing a constructive role in ensuring peace and stability in the region.
