Thai Police Chinese Actor Confirmed As Victim of Human Trafficking

Chinese Actor Wang Xing Rescued in Thailand After Human Trafficking Ordeal

A Chinese actor who went missing near the Thailand-Myanmar border over the weekend has been found safe after being confirmed as a victim of human trafficking, according to the Royal Thai Police on Wednesday.

Inspector-General Tatchai Pitaneelaboot of the Royal Thai Police told local media that Wang Xing is expected to return to China within the next one or two days. Wang was lured out of China by a fraudulent offer for an acting job in Thailand but realized he had fallen into a trap when he ended up in a neighboring country.

“The Thai authorities will protect and care for Wang in accordance with relevant procedures,” Tatchai said, adding that they are coordinating with the Chinese Embassy in Thailand to facilitate his swift return once he and his family are ready.

Wang was reported missing on Sunday and was rescued on Tuesday. The Chinese Consulate General in Chiang Mai confirmed that Thailand’s Tak Immigration Office informed them of Wang’s situation and that necessary inquiries were underway.

The incident has sparked widespread concern in both China and Thailand, highlighting the dangers of human trafficking and the importance of vigilance when pursuing overseas opportunities.
