China has announced its readiness to collaborate with the United States to foster stable, healthy, and sustainable economic and trade relations. The Ministry of Commerce made the statement on Thursday, emphasizing the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation.
“Tariff measures are not conducive to the interests of either China or the United States, nor to the rest of the world,” said He Yadong, spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce, during a regular press conference. He underscored the importance of removing tariffs to benefit both nations and the global economy.
Responding to questions about trade tensions, He highlighted China’s opposition to actions that violate market economy principles and harm the legitimate interests of enterprises. “We hope that the United States will listen more to the voices of enterprises and the public, and provide a fair and just business environment for companies from all countries, including Chinese enterprises,” he stated.
Regarding concerns over technology companies like TikTok, the spokesperson reaffirmed China’s commitment to respecting and safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of enterprises. He urged the U.S. to take actions that promote bilateral economic and trade cooperation and enhance the well-being of people in both countries.
The remarks come amid ongoing discussions about trade policies between the two economic giants. China’s call for mutual cooperation reflects a desire to move past trade disputes and work towards shared prosperity.
