‘Ne Zha 2’ Becomes First Asian Film to Break 10 Billion Yuan at Box Office

As of 7:10 p.m. Beijing Time on February 13, the Chinese animated blockbuster ‘Ne Zha 2’ had grossed an astonishing 10 billion yuan (around $1.37 billion USD), making it the first Asian film to enter the global box office top 17.

The film premiered in Australia and New Zealand with advance screenings from February 10 to 12, officially hitting cinemas on February 13. Moviegoers in Sydney reported a surge in screenings, with some theaters showing the film up to nine times a day.

‘Ne Zha 2’ is absolutely incredible! You won’t want to miss a single minute!” exclaimed Xiaohui, a movie enthusiast in Sydney. Speaking with Chinese media on February 11, she shared her excitement about the film’s extended screening schedule, which has been lengthened from three days to ten due to overwhelming demand.

The entire two-hour running time is packed with excitement. Whether it’s one-on-one combat or large-scale battle scenes, every moment is filled with detail. The action sequences and special effects are phenomenal!” Xiaohui added, noting that hardly anyone left their seats during the screening.

Beyond Australia and New Zealand, ‘Ne Zha 2’ is set to captivate audiences in Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Malaysia, Egypt, South Africa, Pakistan, Japan, and South Korea, with releases beginning on February 13.
