China and Russia are strengthening their ties as top officials from both countries met in Beijing on Tuesday. Zhao Leji, Chairman of the National People’s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee and China’s top legislator, welcomed Alexander Babakov, Deputy Chairman of the Russian State Duma.
During the meeting, Zhao emphasized China’s readiness to work closely with Russia to provide firm mutual support and deepen political trust. “We aim to expand practical cooperation and promote genuine multilateralism to make the international order more just and equitable,” he stated.
He highlighted that the NPC is willing to collaborate with the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation to implement important agreements reached between their heads of state. This includes strengthening communication, sharing experience in legislation and supervision, and providing legal guarantees for bilateral cooperation.
Babakov expressed that under the guidance of both nations’ leaders, Russia-China relations have yielded fruitful results. He noted that the Federal Assembly is eager to enhance exchanges and cooperation with the NPC to contribute to the growth of bilateral ties.
The meeting signifies the continued commitment of China and Russia to work together on international issues and strengthen their strategic partnership.
