Chinese President Xi Jinping and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met on Friday, pledging to deepen the “ironclad” friendship between their nations. The leaders emphasized mutual cooperation and a shared commitment to building a high-quality China-Serbia community with a shared future.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Soviet Union’s Great Patriotic War. Xi highlighted the historical ties between China and Serbia, noting the significant contributions both peoples made during the anti-fascist war in Asia and Europe.
“China is willing to deepen strategic communication with Serbia, enhance mutual support, and strengthen trade and investment cooperation,” Xi said. He emphasized the importance of leveraging ongoing projects to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
Vucic expressed gratitude for China’s unwavering support, calling China Serbia’s most precious friend. “China has consistently offered selfless support and assistance to help Serbia develop its economy and improve the well-being of its people,” he said.
Serbia affirmed its commitment to the one-China principle, recognizing Taiwan as an inalienable part of China’s territory. Vucic also welcomed more Chinese enterprises to invest in Serbia and called for China’s active participation in the 2027 Belgrade Specialized Expo.
The leaders agreed to work together to address global challenges, safeguard world peace, and promote international fairness and justice.
