China and Brazil Vow to Defend Global South’s Rights

Chinese and Brazilian officials have pledged to stand together in defending the legitimate rights of the Global South. In a meeting held in Beijing on Monday, they emphasized the importance of multilateralism and vowed to contribute positively to world peace, stability, and development through strengthened cooperation.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira and Celso Amorim, special advisor to the president of Brazil. The discussions centered on deepening bilateral relations and addressing major international and regional issues of mutual concern.

The officials reviewed the frequent exchanges between their heads of state in recent years and prepared for upcoming high-level talks. They agreed to promote the building of a China-Brazil community with a shared future, adhering to multilateralism and safeguarding international rules. Their commitment aims to protect the legitimate rights and interests of the Global South.

On the Ukraine crisis, both sides expressed support for direct dialogue and negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. They pledged to play active roles in the Group of Friends for Peace, working to gather international consensus for a peaceful resolution to the crisis.

This collaboration between China and Brazil signifies a strengthened partnership that could bring new opportunities for nations in the Global South, fostering unity and collective progress on the global stage.
