Wang Yi Calls for Enhancing Connectivity Cooperation with Tajikistan

China and Tajikistan Strengthen Partnership Ahead of SCO Summit

China and Tajikistan have agreed to deepen their partnership and enhance cooperation in various fields ahead of a significant summit.

On Wednesday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Tajikistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin in Tianjin, China. The two officials discussed ways to bolster bilateral relations, focusing on implementing economic and trade cooperation plans and enhancing connectivity between the two nations.

Wang Yi emphasized that the leaders of both countries have set a clear direction for developing a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership in the new era. “China is willing to work with Tajikistan to implement the consensus reached between our heads of state,” Wang said. “We look forward to preparing for the next stage of high-level exchanges and promoting a successful Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Tianjin.”

Expressing firm support, China backed Tajikistan’s pursuit of a development path suited to its national conditions and supported President Emomali Rahmon’s long-term plans for the country. “We oppose any interference in Tajikistan’s internal affairs by any force,” Wang added.

Muhriddin affirmed Tajikistan’s commitment to collaborating with China to ensure the success of the upcoming SCO summit. “Tajikistan is eager to work with China to expand cooperation mechanisms, deepen economic and trade investment, enhance connectivity, and elevate our partnership to a higher level,” he stated.

The meeting highlighted the mutual desire to strengthen ties and collaborate in key areas such as investment, energy, security, medicine, and education.
