Peru’s Trade Boost: New Port Connects Faster with China

Peru’s Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Úrsula Desilú León Chempén, has hailed China as an important strategic partner, highlighting the “unlimited potential” in trade between the two nations.

In an interview with CGTN, León Chempén emphasized that recent developments have opened new opportunities for Peru’s tourism industry. “The meeting has brought new opportunities for the development of Peru’s tourism industry,” she said.

One of the key advancements is the opening of the Chancay Port, which has significantly reduced transit times between Peru and China. “With the Chancay Port opening, transit time from Peru to China has been reduced by 10 to 12 days, which is crucial for logistics efficiency,” she noted.

The reduced transit time is expected to boost trade activities, enhance logistics, and strengthen economic ties between the two countries. León Chempén expressed optimism about the future of Peru-China relations, stating that the partnership holds “unlimited potential” for growth and cooperation.

By improving trade routes and fostering closer ties, both nations aim to benefit from increased economic activities and cultural exchanges. Young entrepreneurs and businesses in Peru are hopeful that these changes will bring new opportunities for innovation, employment, and growth.
