China Firmly Opposes Us Semiconductor Export Control Measures

China Criticizes New US Chip Export Controls as Threat to Global Trade

China has strongly condemned the United States for its latest semiconductor export control measures, accusing Washington of undermining global trade and disrupting market stability. On Monday, China’s Ministry of Commerce criticized the US for “abusing export control measures” and expanding the concept of national security to impose unilateral sanctions.

“The US has seriously obstructed normal international trade relations and undermined market rules and the international economic order,” a ministry spokesperson said. “China firmly opposes such actions.”

The US announced stricter restrictions on the export of semiconductor manufacturing equipment and chips to China, adding 136 Chinese entities to its export control list. These measures aim to limit China’s access to advanced technologies, citing national security concerns.

China argued that the US is “saying one thing and doing another” by imposing these controls, which threaten the stability of global supply chains. The ministry accused the US of engaging in “economic coercion” and “non-market behavior” by interfering with trade between China and third-party countries.

The escalating tensions over semiconductor exports highlight the growing rivalry between the world’s two largest economies in the high-tech sector. Industry experts worry that such moves could hinder innovation and impact global markets reliant on semiconductor technology.
