Macao is making strides to become a global digital trade hub, aiming to connect the Chinese mainland with Portuguese-speaking countries. Alvin Fong, president of the Macao China-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Trade Promotion, highlighted the region’s efforts in promoting digital trade during an interview with CGTN.
“Our goal is to make Macao a global hub for receiving orders by connecting with the best supply chains in the Chinese mainland,” Fong said. “Through Macao, we can connect the excellent industrial chains of Portuguese-speaking countries to the Chinese mainland more effectively.”
The Special Administrative Region is leveraging its unique position as a bridge between China and Portuguese-speaking nations to boost economic ties and facilitate international trade. By enhancing digital trade platforms, Macao hopes to streamline business processes and open new opportunities for collaboration.
This initiative not only strengthens Macao’s role in global commerce but also fosters closer relationships between China and Portuguese-speaking countries across the globe.
