HENGQIN, China – Chinese President Xi Jinping visited the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin on Thursday, engaging with residents and entrepreneurs from the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR).
During his visit, President Xi met with Macao residents who have established businesses in the cooperation zone, as well as officials involved in the zone’s development. He toured an exhibition showcasing the integrated growth of Hengqin and Macao, highlighting the achievements of their collaboration in recent years.
"Significant progress has been made since the establishment of the cooperation zone," Xi said. "The integration between Hengqin and Macao has steadily improved, supporting Macao’s diversified economic development."
President Xi emphasized the importance of the zone’s original purpose: promoting Macao’s economic diversification. He encouraged Guangdong, Zhuhai, and Macao to work together towards this common goal, noting that all parties are both contributors to and beneficiaries of the cooperation zone.
Xi also visited a platform supporting traditional Chinese medicine technology, praising the integration of advanced technologies to bring traditional medicine to the global stage.
Meeting with young entrepreneurs from Macao, he expressed hope that more youth would pursue innovation and entrepreneurship in Hengqin. "Your stories show that Macao has a group of young people with ideals, responsibility, and a willingness to innovate," Xi said.
