SANYA, China—In a significant stride toward international connectivity, the first regular flight between Sanya, China, and Tashkent, Uzbekistan, touched down in Sanya on Thursday. This milestone marks a new chapter in the city’s efforts to attract tourists and expand its global reach.
The inaugural flight not only connects the tropical paradise of Sanya with the historic capital of Uzbekistan but also opens doors for cultural exchange and economic collaboration between the two cities.
Since the beginning of this year, Sanya International Airport in Hainan Province has been bustling with international activity. Operating 28 overseas routes and connecting 21 international cities, the airport has welcomed approximately 650,000 international overnight visitors.
“The launch of the Sanya-Tashkent route is a significant step in enhancing our international flight network,” said a spokesperson for Sanya International Airport. “We look forward to fostering stronger ties with our friends in Uzbekistan.”
Travelers can now explore the sandy beaches and lush landscapes of Sanya, while visitors from China gain easier access to the rich history and culture of Tashkent. The new route is expected to boost tourism and provide exciting opportunities for students and young professionals interested in exploring new destinations.
