Chinese Private Firms Urged to Embrace AI for Growth and Innovation

Private enterprises in China should seize the wave of technological progress represented by artificial intelligence (AI) to boost efficiency, transform products, and better meet public needs, according to Liu Yonghao, chairman of New Hope Group and member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).

In an interview with CGTN’s Aaron Liu ahead of the CPPCC session, Liu emphasized the crucial role of AI in the growth and expansion of private enterprises. “Only by arming ourselves with AI can we continue to grow and expand,” he said.

Liu’s comments come as China accelerates the integration of technological and industrial innovation. According to Liu Jieyi, spokesperson for the 3rd session of the 14th National Committee of the CPPCC, China is building a modernized industrial system at an unprecedented pace.

“Among the World Economic Forum’s list of 189 ‘lighthouse factories’ globally, China accounts for 79, nearly half of which come from traditional industries,” Liu Jieyi noted during a press conference on Monday.

These lighthouse factories are leaders in implementing advanced technologies like AI and the Internet of Things to drive productivity and sustainability. Their success showcases China’s commitment to embracing innovation across various sectors.

Young entrepreneurs and startups in the Global South can take inspiration from China’s approach to integrating AI into traditional industries. By leveraging cutting-edge technology, businesses can enhance their competitiveness and contribute to economic development.
