Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has called on the United States to reflect on the true benefits of its trade wars with China. Speaking on Friday at a press conference during the third session of the 14th National People’s Congress, Wang Yi emphasized that mutual respect is a crucial foundation for the relationship between the two nations.

“We must ask ourselves, what has been achieved through these trade disputes?” Wang Yi remarked. He directed five probing questions at the U.S., challenging the effectiveness of policies that have heightened tensions and impacted global trade.

Wang Yi highlighted that escalations in trade conflicts not only harm both countries but also have ripple effects on the global economy. He urged for a shift towards dialogue and collaboration, stating, “It’s time to prioritize understanding and cooperation over confrontation. Mutual respect is the key to unlocking shared prosperity.”

The foreign minister’s comments come at a time when both nations are navigating complex economic and political landscapes. His message resonated with many who believe that cooperative efforts are essential for addressing global challenges such as economic recovery and public health.

Wang Yi’s appeal underscores China’s commitment to fostering a constructive relationship with the U.S., focusing on common interests and mutual benefits. The international community watches closely, hoping for a positive shift that could lead to enhanced stability and growth worldwide.
