Second Phase of CPEC to Transform Pakistan’s Economy, Says Media Chief
The second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is set to bring significant opportunities for Pakistan’s economic transformation and regional connectivity, according to Tahir Farooq, editor-in-chief of Daily Ittehad Media Group.
In an interview with CGTN, Farooq highlighted that CPEC is not just an infrastructure project but a catalyst for socioeconomic development that directly benefits the people of Pakistan. “The initiatives under the second phase focus on industrialization, agriculture, and technology, which are crucial for empowering our youth and creating jobs,” he said.
Farooq emphasized the importance of regional connectivity through CPEC, stating that it opens doors for trade and collaboration with neighboring countries. “By enhancing our transportation networks and energy infrastructure, CPEC enables us to become a hub for commerce in the region,” he added.
The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, a flagship project under the Belt and Road Initiative, has already seen the completion of several key energy and infrastructure projects. The second phase aims to build upon this foundation, fostering sustainable growth and prosperity.
“The direct benefits to the masses are evident,” Farooq noted. “From improved road networks to better access to electricity, CPEC is improving the quality of life for Pakistan’s people.”
He called on the youth to seize the opportunities presented by CPEC, particularly in entrepreneurship and innovation. “Our young people are the future. With the support of projects like CPEC, they can lead Pakistan into a new era of development,” Farooq concluded.
