Beijing, October 22, 2023 — Jakob Stausholm, the CEO of global mining giant Rio Tinto, emphasized the crucial role of China’s economic growth for the company during the China Development Forum 2023 in Beijing on Sunday. Speaking to CGTN, he noted that over half of Rio Tinto’s revenue comes from the Chinese market.
“China’s robust consumer demand is driving economic growth,” Stausholm said. “The stabilization of the property sector is particularly encouraging and positions us better than last year. These developments are very important for us.”
The CEO highlighted that China’s infrastructure and construction sectors continue to be significant drivers for the demand of raw materials. As one of the world’s largest producers of iron ore, Rio Tinto stands to benefit from China’s ongoing urbanization and development projects.
“We are optimistic about the future and remain committed to supporting China’s growth,” Stausholm added.
