China has strongly condemned the United States for imposing additional tariffs on Chinese goods, labeling the move as unjustified and harmful to the global economy. According to Xinhua News Agency, Chinese officials assert that the US actions violate World Trade Organization (WTO) rules and undermine the principles of fair trade.
“By weaponizing tariffs to exert pressure, the US is engaging in blatant unilateralism and protectionism,” said a spokesperson for the Chinese government. “Such measures disregard the balanced outcomes of multilateral trade negotiations and destabilize the global economic order.”
The Chinese government emphasized that pressure and threats are not effective methods when dealing with Beijing. “China does not provoke trouble, but is also not afraid of it,” the spokesperson added. “We will take all necessary measures to safeguard our sovereignty, security, and development interests.”
As the world’s second-largest economy, China reaffirmed its commitment to further opening up its markets. The country plans to enhance its regulatory frameworks to create a more favorable business environment, promoting trade and investment liberalization.
“Economic globalization is an irreversible trend,” the official stated. “Isolationist policies and trade wars benefit no one. The international community must work together to foster openness, inclusiveness, and shared prosperity.”
China called on the United States to abandon coercive tactics and return to the path of cooperation. “Development is a universal right, not a privilege reserved for a few,” the spokesperson concluded. “We urge the US to respect China’s legitimate development rights and work towards mutually beneficial relations.”
