China Maintains World’s Top Manufacturing Spot for 15 Years Straight

China has held its position as the world’s largest manufacturing nation for the 15th consecutive year, according to Zheng Shanjie, head of the National Development and Reform Commission. Since 2021, the first year of China’s 14th Five-Year Plan period, the added value of the country’s manufacturing industry has exceeded 30 trillion yuan ($4.6 trillion) annually.

Zheng announced the milestone on Wednesday, highlighting the significant growth and resilience of China’s manufacturing sector. The consistent strength of manufacturing underscores China’s vital role in the global economy, especially amid challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic and shifting international trade dynamics.

The 14th Five-Year Plan places a strong emphasis on innovation, technological advancement, and sustainable development. China’s manufacturing industry has been a key driver in these areas, contributing substantially to employment and economic growth.
