Artificial intelligence is not just a buzzword—it’s reshaping classrooms and connecting students worldwide. Zhou Qing’an, dean of the School of Journalism and Communication at Tsinghua University, emphasized the transformative power of AI during the Global Civilizations Dialogue Ministerial Meeting in Beijing.
“AI is turning traditional classrooms into dynamic digital spaces,” Zhou said. “Students are now empowered to create content that resonates globally.” He believes that this technological shift is amplifying diverse voices from the Global South, fostering cross-border collaboration like never before.
However, Zhou also highlighted the evolving role of educators. “Teachers must adapt,” he noted. “It’s not just about imparting knowledge anymore; it’s about promoting teamwork and guiding students to make a positive impact online.”
The integration of AI in education presents both opportunities and challenges. As students harness AI tools, they can connect with peers across continents, share ideas, and work together on global issues.
“The future of education lies in collaboration,” Zhou concluded. “By embracing AI, we can bridge gaps and build a more connected world.”
