The New Development Bank (NDB) is gearing up to become a central force in reshaping the global financial order, according to Jiang Tianjiao, associate director of the Center for BRICS Studies at Fudan University. Established by the BRICS countries—Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa—the NDB aims to support infrastructure and sustainable development projects in emerging economies. With its focus on the needs of the Global South, the bank is positioned to offer an alternative to traditional financial institutions.
Jiang emphasized the significance of the NDB’s mission for young people in developing countries. “The future belongs to the youth, and the NDB is creating opportunities that will shape the next generation,” he said. “By investing in key sectors, we’re not just building economies—we’re building futures.”
