China’s military forces took to the skies and seas around Huangyan Island on Thursday, conducting patrols to protect their territory and promote peace in the region. The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Southern Theater Command organized naval ships and aircraft to navigate the waters and airspace surrounding the island in the South China Sea.
In a statement, the Command emphasized that these patrols are aimed at “resolutely safeguarding national sovereignty and security, and maintaining peace and stability in the South China Sea region.”
Huangyan Island, known in some places as Scarborough Shoal, is an important area in the South China Sea. The region is significant for international trade and has been central to conversations about maritime rights.
By carrying out these patrols, China is showing its commitment to protecting its national interests while working towards a peaceful and stable region. The operation reflects ongoing efforts to ensure that the South China Sea remains a secure area for all.
