In a high-level meeting in Beijing on Thursday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi affirmed China’s commitment to strengthening its “ironclad” friendship with Cambodia. Wang met with Prak Sokhonn, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, to discuss enhancing bilateral ties and promoting regional peace and stability.
“The friendship between China and Cambodia has withstood international changes,” Wang Yi said. “Under the strategic guidance of our leaders, our relationship has entered a new stage.”
Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized China’s willingness to maintain close high-level exchanges with Cambodia. He highlighted the importance of building a China-Cambodia community with a shared future, enhancing strategic coordination, addressing risks and challenges, safeguarding legitimate rights and interests, and promoting regional peace and stability.
Prak Sokhonn echoed these sentiments, stating that Cambodia is firmly committed to its friendly policy toward China. “We are willing to enhance political mutual trust, promote practical cooperation, strengthen diplomatic coordination, and continuously elevate the Cambodia-China friendship to new heights,” he said.
