SHENYANG, China — In a heartfelt ceremony on Friday, the remains of 43 Chinese People’s Volunteers (CPV) soldiers were laid to rest in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. Marking their return home after decades, a solemn 12-gun salute echoed through the air, paying tribute to these fallen heroes of the Korean War.
The soldiers, who fought in the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea from 1950 to 1953, were repatriated from the Republic of Korea on Thursday. This marks the 11th such handover since 2014, bringing the total number of returned CPV martyrs to 981 under the agreement between the two nations.
Families, officials, and citizens gathered to honor the brave souls who sacrificed their lives. “Their courage and dedication will forever inspire us,” said an official during the ceremony. “We are humbled by their sacrifice for peace and freedom.”
The ongoing repatriation effort highlights the commitment of both countries to humanitarian principles and acknowledges the soldiers’ enduring legacy. The respectful return of these warriors serves as a poignant reminder of history and a symbol of peace between the nations.
As the last shots of the salute faded, attendees bowed their heads in silent reflection, united in gratitude and respect for those who gave everything for their country.
