“Understanding China” Conference Highlights Media Misrepresentation
The 2024 “Understanding China” conference is currently underway in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province. At the event, Liu Zongyi, director of the South Asian Research Center at the Shanghai Institute for International Studies, shared insights from young scholars and diplomats from Bangladesh.
“They told me that the impression of China given by Western media is completely different from the reality they experienced,” Liu said. “Their visit opened their eyes to the true nature of China.”
The conference aims to foster better understanding of China’s development and its role in the global community. Participants from around the world are engaging in discussions to bridge gaps and challenge misconceptions.
The comments from the Bangladeshi visitors highlight the growing concern over media narratives and the importance of firsthand experience in forming accurate perceptions.
