China and India Agree on Measures to Ease Border Tensions

New Delhi, India — In a significant step towards regional stability, China and India have agreed to take measures to further ease tensions along their shared border. The agreement was reached during the 32nd meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on China-India Border Affairs, held on Thursday in New Delhi.

Representatives from both nations’ foreign affairs, defense, interior, and immigration departments participated in the discussions. Hong Liang, Director-General of the Department of Boundary and Ocean Affairs of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, and Shri Gourangalal Das, Joint Secretary of the East Asia Division of the Indian Foreign Ministry, led the talks.

Both sides praised the progress made through existing solutions on border issues and committed to comprehensively implementing these agreements. They emphasized the importance of maintaining open communication through diplomatic and military channels to sustain peace and tranquility in the border areas.

The meeting also focused on preparations for the next round of the Special Representatives’ Meeting on the China-India Boundary Question. This ongoing dialogue aims to build on the consensus reached by the leaders of both countries, fostering mutual understanding and cooperation.

By leveraging established negotiation mechanisms, China and India are working towards a harmonious and stable relationship, which is crucial for the growth and development of the region.
