China’s Eighth Straight Victory at ITTF Mixed Team World Cup

Chengdu, China — China showcased its dominance in table tennis by securing an eighth consecutive victory at the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Mixed Team World Cup on Saturday. The host nation swept France with an impressive 8-0 win in Chengdu, Sichuan Province.

The dynamic duo of Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha set the tone in the mixed doubles match against France’s Audrey Zarif and Esteban Dorr. Demonstrating exceptional synergy, Wang and Sun clinched the match in straight games, winning 11-6, 11-8, 11-3.

In the women’s singles, world No. 2 Wang Manyu faced off against Camille Lutz. Wang dominated the table, defeating Lutz 11-6, 11-2, 11-6, and further extending China’s lead.

Lin Shidong represented China in the men’s singles against Thibault Poret. Lin secured the first game 11-6 and overcame resistance in the second, sealing it 10-8 to continue the host’s winning streak.

The victory over France followed China’s 8-2 triumph against Japan the previous day. Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha again proved formidable in the mixed doubles, overcoming Japan’s Ryuusei Kawakami and Rin Mende. Despite dropping one game, they secured the match 2-1.

Wang Manyu continued her stellar performance in the women’s singles against Kaho Akae, winning convincingly with scores of 11-7, 11-5, 11-5.

Lin Shidong faced a challenging match against Yuta Tanaka in the men’s singles. After winning the first game 11-5, Lin fought back from a 10-8 deficit in the second to take it 12-10. Despite Tanaka’s resilience, Lin’s victory set the stage for China’s final win.

The decisive moment came when Sun Yingsha and Wang Yidi teamed up in the women’s doubles against Kaho Akae and Asuka Sasao. With a swift 11-6 win, they sealed China’s commanding performance at the tournament.
