China is closely following the situation in Syria and hopes that stability will return as soon as possible, a spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Sunday.
In a statement, the spokesperson emphasized that the Chinese government has been helping Chinese nationals who wish to leave Syria to do so safely and orderly. For those who remain, the government is maintaining contact and offering them advice on how to stay safe.
“We urge relevant parties in Syria to ensure the safety and security of Chinese institutions and personnel in Syria,” the spokesperson said.
The Chinese embassy in Damascus continues its operations and is committed to providing all possible assistance to Chinese nationals in need, the spokesperson added.
