A new book featuring key discourses by China’s leader, Xi Jinping, on the nation’s system of people’s congresses has been published nationwide.
The compilation, released by the Central Party Literature Press, brings together 37 significant works by Xi from December 2012 to October 2023. Notably, some of these writings are being made public for the first time.
Compiled by the Institute of Party History and Literature of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, the book highlights Xi’s thoughts on upholding and improving China’s system of people’s congresses.
Since the 18th National Congress of the CPC in 2012, China has strengthened the role of people’s congresses under Xi’s leadership, promoting what it calls “whole-process people’s democracy.”
Xi has integrated Marxist principles with China’s unique realities and traditional culture. He has summarized the practical experiences of the CPC in enhancing socialist democracy and has introduced new ideas and requirements to guide the improvement of the people’s congress system.
The publication of this book provides insights into China’s governance and approach to democracy, offering guidance for upholding and advancing the people’s congress system.
