Chinese Fm Urges Human Rights Protection Through Global Cooperation

China’s Wang Yi Calls for Global Unity in Human Rights Efforts

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has called on the international community to unite in promoting human rights through development and cooperation. In a written message to the Hernán Santa Cruz Dialogue on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights held on Monday in Hangzhou, Wang emphasized the need for equal access to economic, social, and cultural rights for all people across the globe.

Addressing escalating geopolitical conflicts and a sluggish economic recovery, Wang highlighted the shortcomings in global human rights governance. He urged nations to uphold true multilateralism, respect each country’s independent path in human rights development, and enhance dialogue based on equality and mutual respect.

“To realize human rights for all, we must strengthen global solidarity and coordination,” Wang stated. He called for increased support from developed countries to developing nations to ensure that no one is left behind.

Wang Yi praised China’s own human rights practices, noting that the country has found a development path that suits its national conditions and aligns with the times. “Historic achievements have been made in China’s human rights cause, and the protection of economic, social, and cultural rights has reached new heights,” he said.

He also referenced the recent third plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, which he said outlines a blueprint for deepening reform and advancing Chinese modernization. This, according to Wang, will provide favorable conditions for the Chinese people to enjoy higher levels of economic, social, and cultural rights.

Concluding his message, Wang Yi reaffirmed China’s commitment to working with all countries and United Nations agencies to pursue common human values. He advocated for safeguarding human rights through security, promoting them through development, and advancing them through cooperation, contributing to the sustainable development of global human rights.
