Xi China Continues to Be biggest Engine of World Economic Growth

Xi Jinping Confident in China’s Growth, Urges Global Cooperation

Chinese President Xi Jinping has affirmed China’s confidence in achieving its economic growth targets for the year, declaring the nation will continue to be the “biggest engine” of global economic growth. At a meeting in Beijing on Tuesday with leaders of major international economic organizations, Xi emphasized China’s commitment to promoting multilateralism and international cooperation.

“The world is at a critical crossroads,” Xi stated, highlighting the turbulence and changes facing the global community. He assured that China is ready to work alongside international organizations to support the development of countries in the Global South, foster economic globalization that benefits all, and build a just world of common development.

The leaders of the New Development Bank, the World Bank, the World Trade Organization, and the International Monetary Fund praised China’s economic achievements and expressed optimism about its future prospects. They voiced appreciation for China’s long-term support and signaled willingness to collaborate closely with China to uphold free trade and economic globalization.

Addressing the rise of unilateralism and protectionism, Xi called for collective efforts to build an open world economy. He urged nations to be innovation-driven, embracing opportunities in the digital economy, artificial intelligence, and low-carbon technologies. “We should create new sources of economic growth and support the cross-border flow of knowledge, technology, and talent,” Xi said.

Xi noted that after more than 40 years of rapid development, China’s economy has entered a stage of high-quality growth, contributing about 30% to global economic expansion. He reiterated China’s commitment to opening up further to the world, aligning with high-standard international economic and trade rules, and creating a market-oriented, law-based, and world-class business environment.

The Chinese President also invited international economic organizations to participate actively in the Belt and Road Initiative, aiming to promote modernization and shared prosperity through peaceful development and mutually beneficial cooperation.

On China-U.S. relations, Xi expressed hope that both nations would work together to steer bilateral ties in a steady, healthy, and sustainable direction. “Tariff wars, trade wars, and technological wars go against the trend of history and the laws of economics; there are no winners,” he warned. Xi affirmed China’s willingness to maintain dialogue, expand cooperation, and manage differences with the United States.
