China has reaffirmed its commitment to driving global economic growth, with President Xi Jinping pledging to expand the country’s openness and collaboration with the world. During the “1+10” dialogue in Beijing, where he met with heads of major international economic organizations, Xi highlighted China’s significant contributions to the global economy and outlined plans for further development.
“China has complete confidence in achieving this year’s economic growth target and will continue to play its role as the biggest engine of world economic growth,” Xi stated. He emphasized the country’s shift towards high-quality development after more than 40 years of rapid advancement, noting that China contributes around 30 percent to global economic growth.
Xi also discussed the progress of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) over the past decade, describing it as a bridge for shared development between China and other nations. He welcomed international organizations to participate in the BRI to promote modernization worldwide. To date, China has signed BRI cooperation documents with over 150 countries and more than 30 international organizations.
Addressing global challenges, Xi underscored the importance of building an open and fair global economic system. He firmly opposed decoupling and protectionism, advocating for international cooperation in innovation, the digital economy, artificial intelligence, and low-carbon technologies. “Tariff wars, trade wars, and sci-tech wars go against the trend of history and the laws of economics, and there will be no winners,” he remarked.
Xi expressed China’s willingness to maintain dialogue and expand cooperation with the United States, hoping for steady and sustainable development of bilateral ties. He stressed that approaches like building “small courtyards with high walls” and “decoupling and severing supply chains” would harm all parties involved.
With these commitments, China aims to foster a more open, inclusive, and interconnected global economy, reinforcing its role as a key driver of global growth.
