Xi Jinping to Mark Macao’s 25th Return Anniversary with Visit

Chinese President Xi Jinping is set to visit the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) from December 18 to 20 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Macao’s return to China. This significant occasion marks a quarter-century since Macao was handed back from Portuguese to Chinese sovereignty under the “one country, two systems” framework.

During his stay, President Xi will attend a gathering commemorating the anniversary and will be present at the inauguration ceremony of the sixth-term government of the Macao SAR. His visit underscores the central government’s support for Macao’s continued prosperity and stability.

The president will also conduct an inspection tour of the region. This tour is expected to focus on Macao’s developments in diversifying its economy, enhancing its role as a global tourism and leisure center, and strengthening its integration with mainland China.
