Ambulances with Chinese Mainland Macao Plates Ready for Service

New Dual-License Ambulances Streamline Zhuhai-Macao Medical Transfers

Zhuhai, China – In a significant move to enhance cross-border emergency medical services, Zhuhai is set to deploy four ambulances equipped with dual Guangdong-Macao license plates. The ambulances are awaiting final approval and are expected to streamline the transfer of critically ill patients between Zhuhai and the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR).

The introduction of these dual-license ambulances will simplify procedures and reduce response times during medical emergencies, according to the pre-hospital emergency care branch of Zhuhai’s medical association. This initiative marks a milestone in the cooperation between Zhuhai and Macao, aiming to provide faster and more efficient emergency care for residents in both regions.

To further integrate medical resources within the Greater Bay Area—which includes Zhuhai, Hong Kong, and Macao—Zhuhai has taken proactive steps in fostering collaboration. This year, the city dispatched 12 emergency response team members to Hong Kong for specialized training. In return, 33 emergency medical personnel from Hong Kong visited Zhuhai for exchanges and training sessions, enhancing mutual understanding and expertise.

Zhuhai has also organized joint drills and participated in emergency exercises and academic exchanges throughout the Greater Bay Area. These efforts are broadening and deepening cooperation in emergency medical rescue, ensuring that the region is better prepared for future challenges.

“The launch of dual-license ambulances and increased academic exchanges represent significant progress in promoting emergency medical rescue cooperation between Zhuhai, Hong Kong, and the Macao SAR,” said Yang Lijuan, director of Zhuhai’s emergency medical rescue center.

As Macao approaches the 25th anniversary of its return to China, initiatives like these underscore the strengthening ties and collaborative spirit within the region, benefiting communities across borders.
