Xi Jinping Urges Deep Rural Reforms to Strengthen Agriculture

Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for intensified efforts to deepen rural reforms and strengthen China’s agricultural sector. Speaking at the annual central rural work conference in Beijing this week, Xi emphasized the importance of boosting the nation’s agricultural capabilities and improving the lives of farmers.

“It is imperative to enhance support systems to strengthen agriculture, benefit farmers, enrich rural areas, and advance rural revitalization across the board,” Xi said. He highlighted the need to ensure stable production and supply of grain and other major agricultural products, and to create more opportunities for farmers to increase their incomes.

Xi also stressed the importance of consolidating the achievements of poverty alleviation and preventing any large-scale return to poverty. He called for solid efforts to promote rural development initiatives, aiming to transform the countryside into a beautiful and harmonious place where people can live and work comfortably.

Party committees and government agencies at all levels were urged to prioritize the development of agriculture and rural areas. Xi called for accelerating the modernization of agriculture and further strengthening the country’s agricultural foundation to bring greater prosperity to rural regions and farmers.

The conference also discussed draft opinions from the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the State Council on further deepening rural reform and steadily promoting all-around rural revitalization.
