China Coast Guard Intensifies Patrols Around Huangyan Dao

BEIJING—The China Coast Guard has ramped up its law enforcement patrols in the waters surrounding Huangyan Dao, reinforcing efforts to safeguard China’s maritime sovereignty.

Since early December, coast guard vessels have been actively patrolling the territorial waters off Huangyan Dao, also known internationally as Scarborough Shoal. The patrols involve warning and driving away vessels that are deemed illegally disruptive, aiming to strengthen management and control of the area.

“We are committed to firmly safeguarding China’s territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests,” the China Coast Guard stated.

Huangyan Dao is a significant maritime location, and these intensified patrols underscore China’s dedication to protecting its territorial waters and ensuring the security of navigation in the region.
