China Sends 48 Young Athletes to 2025 Winter Universiade in Turin

China has officially announced its delegation for the 2025 International University Sports Federation (FISU) Winter World University Games in Turin, Italy. The team comprises 48 athletes from 13 universities, forming part of an 84-member delegation.

These young athletes, averaging 22 years of age, will compete in events such as alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, ski mountaineering, curling, and short track speed skating. Remarkably, 45 of them will be making their debut at a world multi-sport event.

In preparation for the games, the China University Sports Federation organized a series of selection events. Training camps are currently underway in Beijing and in Jilin Province to ensure the athletes are at their peak performance.

Liu Lixin, head of the Chinese delegation, expressed hopes that the athletes will showcase the positive image of China’s younger generation on the global stage. “We aim to build international friendships with youth worldwide and foster cultural exchanges among the participating teams,” Liu said.

The Winter Universiade, scheduled from January 13 to 23 in Turin, is set to feature over 2,600 athletes and officials from 55 countries and regions competing in 11 sports.

As the athletes gear up for this prestigious event, the world will be watching to see the new talent emerging from China. The games offer a unique opportunity for young competitors to shine and promote unity through sports.
