Chinese President Xi Jinping’s special envoy, Hao Mingjin, attended the inauguration ceremony of Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama in Accra on Tuesday. The event marked a significant moment in the 65-year diplomatic relationship between China and Ghana.
Following the inauguration, President Mahama met with Hao, who serves as the vice chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China. Hao conveyed President Xi’s warm congratulations and best wishes, emphasizing China’s deep appreciation for its traditional friendship with Ghana.
“China remains committed to fostering China-Ghana relations from a strategic and long-term perspective,” Hao stated. He highlighted the opportunity to enhance communication within the frameworks of the Belt and Road Initiative and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, aiming to elevate the strategic partnership to new heights.
President Mahama expressed his gratitude to President Xi for sending a special envoy to his inauguration. “We highly value the achievements in Ghana-China relations and are committed to strengthening pragmatic cooperation with China in various fields,” Mahama said, reaffirming his government’s dedication to advancing bilateral ties.
The meeting underscored both nations’ desire to deepen collaboration and enhance mutual development. With six and a half decades of partnership, China and Ghana look forward to a future of increased cooperation and shared success.
