Beijing, China — Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for stronger audit-based oversight to safeguard the nation’s high-quality economic and social development. In a recent instruction on audit work, Xi emphasized the crucial role audits play in the country’s progress.
Xi, who also serves as the general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, highlighted that audit authorities have significantly contributed to promoting healthy economic development, uncovering risks, and advancing the fight against corruption.
He stressed the importance of focusing on primary responsibilities and core business, urging audit authorities to deepen reform and innovation while strengthening self-improvement. Xi called for building a centralized and unified audit oversight system that is comprehensive, authoritative, and efficient.
The president’s instruction was conveyed by Wu Zhenglong, state councilor and secretary-general of the State Council, at the national audit work conference held in Beijing over the weekend. The conference recognized 80 audit institutions and 45 individuals for their exceptional performance.
