Beijing — China and Grenada have pledged to deepen cooperation in areas such as new energy, the digital economy, and the blue economy, aiming to enhance mutually beneficial relations between the two nations.
During a meeting in Beijing, Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Grenadian Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell discussed aligning their countries’ development strategies. Marking 20 years since the resumption of diplomatic relations, both leaders highlighted the strong ties forged through mutual respect and equality.
“China is willing to work closely with Grenada to expand cooperation in traditional sectors like agriculture and infrastructure, as well as in emerging fields,” Premier Li said, emphasizing opportunities in new energy and the digital economy. He also encouraged Chinese enterprises to invest in Grenada.
Prime Minister Mitchell expressed appreciation for China’s significant contributions to poverty alleviation and support for Grenada’s economic and social development. He praised China’s role in leading the development of the Global South and reaffirmed Grenada’s commitment to the one-China principle.
The two leaders witnessed the signing of multiple bilateral cooperation agreements covering areas such as the Belt and Road Initiative, trade, green development, culture, media, and climate change. China also expressed readiness to assist Grenada and other Caribbean nations in climate adaptation efforts.
Both countries aim to promote the implementation of international climate agreements and to build a community with a shared future for humanity, working together to safeguard the interests of the Global South.
