China and Kazakhstan’s Top Legislators Pledge Closer Ties

Beijing, China — China’s top legislator, Zhao Leji, Chairman of the National People’s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, met with Maulen Ashimbayev, Chairperson of the Senate of Kazakhstan, on Monday. The meeting aimed to strengthen the strategic partnership and enhance cooperation between the two nations.

Zhao highlighted the strong bond between China and Kazakhstan, emphasizing that they are “good neighbors, friends, and partners.” He noted that the presidents of both countries have laid out new plans to elevate bilateral relations to a higher level. “China is willing to work with Kazakhstan to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state,” Zhao said, aiming to push for new progress in the permanent comprehensive strategic partnership.

He expressed hope that the legislatures of both countries would strengthen exchanges and cooperation, providing legal support for the joint development of the Belt and Road Initiative and practical collaboration in various fields.

Ashimbayev echoed Zhao’s sentiments, stating that under the guidance of the two heads of state, Kazakhstan-China relations have entered a “golden period of fast growth.” He affirmed that the Senate of Kazakhstan is eager to enhance exchanges and mutual learning with China’s NPC, particularly in legislation and other areas. “We aim to play a positive role in deepening bilateral relations,” Ashimbayev said.

The meeting signifies a commitment from both sides to foster closer ties and cooperation, contributing to regional stability and development.
