China’s top legislator, Zhao Leji, held a meeting with Grenadian Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell on Monday in Beijing. The discussion aimed to strengthen the ties between China and Grenada and to enhance cooperation across various sectors.
Zhao Leji, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC), expressed China’s readiness to work closely with Grenada. “China is prepared to be like-minded friends, good fellows seeking common development, and good partners walking hand in hand,” Zhao said. He emphasized the implementation of the important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries to bring more benefits to their peoples.
Highlighting the importance of legislative collaboration, Zhao noted that the NPC is willing to maintain friendly exchanges with Grenada’s parliament. He proposed strengthening the exchange of experiences in legislation, supervision, and governance to create a sound legal environment and consolidate public support for deepened bilateral cooperation.
Prime Minister Mitchell reaffirmed Grenada’s commitment to developing relations with China and its adherence to the one-China principle. “Grenada attaches great importance to its relationship with China,” Mitchell said. He expressed Grenada’s willingness to learn from China’s successful development experience and to deepen cooperation in various fields.
Both leaders agreed on the importance of strengthening exchanges between their legislative bodies to achieve common development. The meeting marks a significant step forward in the China-Grenada partnership, promising enhanced collaboration and mutual growth.
