Harbin Hosts Speed Skating Test Event Ahead of Asian Winter Games

Harbin, the vibrant host city for the upcoming ninth Asian Winter Games, took a thrilling step forward by hosting a speed skating test event on Sunday and Monday. This marks the second test event for the Games, signaling that preparations are nearing completion as the city gears up for the grand opening on February 7.

The competitions were conducted with the utmost professionalism, mirroring the standards of official races. This included the implementation of a formal timing system and the use of professional gear for the athletes. Demonstrating their commitment to excellence, the sports administration of Heilongjiang Province selected 63 elite athletes to participate in the event.

Beyond the competitions, the organizers also ran drills for various non-competition aspects. These encompassed broadcasting, award ceremonies, medical services, and practices for spectator attendance, ensuring every detail is finely tuned for the main event.

The excitement isn’t limited to local athletes and organizers. The first international participant to arrive using an Asian Winter Games registration card was Amitesh Mishra from India. “I am really looking forward to the Games; this is my second Asian Games. I think China generally does a great job hosting the event,” Mishra shared enthusiastically with China Media Group (CMG).

To facilitate smooth travel for participants, foreign athletes and related personnel can enter and exit China multiple times between January and March using their valid passports or other international travel documents, alongside their Asian Winter Games registration cards.

With all eyes on Harbin, anticipation builds as the city prepares to welcome athletes and fans from across Asia. The stage is set for a spectacular showcase of winter sports, camaraderie, and cultural exchange.
