China Preps for Spring Festival Travel Rush: Vice Premier Calls for Safety

Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng has called for all-out efforts to ensure safe and smooth travel during the upcoming Spring Festival, China’s most important holiday. On Tuesday, He Lifeng inspected major transport hubs in Beijing, including the Beijing Daxing International Airport and the Beijing West Railway Station, urging regions, departments, and enterprises to prioritize safety and convenience for travelers.

As millions of people prepare to journey home for the Lunar New Year celebrations, He emphasized the need for transportation departments to identify and address potential safety risks and to be ready for extreme weather conditions. He also highlighted the importance of maximizing transport capacity and improving services like ticketing and transfers to handle the massive passenger flow.

The Spring Festival, also known as Chinese New Year, sees one of the world’s largest annual human migrations. This year, China expects around 9 billion trips during the travel rush, marking a significant increase from previous years.

Transportation and logistics play a crucial role in connecting families and facilitating celebrations across the country. The Vice Premier’s directives aim to ensure that the festive season proceeds safely and efficiently for all.
